Unico Stereo Hybrid

Hybrid designs have long held a firm place in the catalogue of Italy's Unison Research, whose amplifiers are built by hand. In this Unico stereo integrated from 2012, a tube preamplifier stage with original Svetlana valves works ahead of powerful MOSFET output stages; the manufacturer's list price was around 2,500 euros.

With 2 x 80 watts the Unico drives even larger loudspeakers with ease; what strikes the listener immediately is the wide stereo stage and the powerful bass foundation. Add to that a generous set of features and the option of bi-amping with suitable speakers. The amplifier is remote-controllable; the original RC-3 remote is not included but can be reordered from the manufacturer.

Cosmetically the unit shows just two minor scratches – on the upper left edge of the faceplate and at the rear of the top cover, barely visible or slightly more noticeable depending on the light (see the last three pictures). Otherwise the integrated amplifier presents in very fine, near-mint condition and comes from a first owner in a non-smoking household. We are happy to demonstrate it by appointment.
