Services

Audio engineering

Repair, servicing and an honest assessment — so that a component does again exactly what it was built to do.

Many of the most sought-after components are thirty or forty years old. That is precisely what makes them appealing — and precisely why they need attention. Electrolytic capacitors age, potentiometers grow scratchy, bearings run dry, valves lose their strength.

Audio engineering is our term for everything that brings a component back to the condition it ought to be in: fault-finding, repair, a complete overhaul, electrical safety. And the honest assessment beforehand as to whether it is all worth doing.

What servicing includes

  • A full functional check with measurements
  • Replacement of aged parts: capacitors, valves, belts, bearings
  • Cleaning of contacts, switches and potentiometers
  • An electrical safety test
  • Final alignment and a listening test

For your own components too

We offer this work independently of any purchase. Describe the component, its year of manufacture and the symptoms — you will receive an assessment of whether servicing is worth doing and what it would take. If it is not, we say so.

Where audio engineering ends

What matters here is that a component runs faultlessly again. If it is to go further and become better than it was when it left the factory — restored surfaces, targeted sonic optimisation, bespoke finishes or a one-off made to measure — then that is a matter for the audio atelier.

Before any component is passed on we inspect it and replace whatever shows wear. Only then does it enter the collection. Anything that fails this inspection is not offered at all.

Safety

Tested electrical safety.

For us, servicing means more than “it runs again”: after a repair, we test electrical safety in line with DIN EN 50678 (VDE 0701); for periodic re-testing, DIN EN 50699 (VDE 0702) applies.
