Hosting and server log files
When you access this website, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data (including IP address, time of access, page requested, browser type) in server log files. Hosting is provided by Hostinger. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO — legitimate interest in secure and stable operation. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 DSGVO is in place with the provider.
Contact and purchase forms
If you send us an enquiry, we process the details you provide (name, email address, optionally phone number, the item enquired about, your message and, in the case of purchase enquiries, the photographs you upload) solely in order to handle your request. Processing takes place on our own server; no external form service is involved. Your enquiry is stored in a database on this server and is additionally sent to us by email. Uploaded photographs are re-encoded before storage, which removes any embedded metadata such as location of capture and camera data; they are held outside the publicly accessible area. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO or, as applicable, Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO.
Contact by phone or email
If you contact us directly by phone or email, we process the data transmitted in order to handle your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
Fonts
The fonts “Fraunces” and “Manrope” are served from our own server. There is no connection to external font providers; your IP address is not transmitted to third parties for this purpose.
Cookies and audience measurement
Audience measurement on this website operates in two stages. Without your consent, we record only how often a page was viewed on a given day — with no cookie, no identifier and no IP address; no link to an individual is created in the process. If you consent, we store a random identifier in your browser (cookie “hem_vid”, 180 days) and additionally record which site brought you to us (only its address, not the specific subpage), a broad device category and your language choice. This allows us to recognise returning visits. The legal basis is § 25 Abs. 1 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO. Your decision is stored in the cookie “hem_consent” (180 days); this cookie is required in order to respect your choice. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via “Cookie settings” in the footer; the stored identifier is erased in the process. No third-party services, no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking are embedded. We store your language choice in your browser and additionally in the cookie “hem-lang” (one year) — only this allows the site to greet you in your language as it is being built, instead of showing you the German version first. A session cookie “hem-visited” records that the language switch has already applied during this session; it is deleted when you close your browser. Neither contains an identifier, neither serves audience measurement, and both are necessary to deliver the site in the correct language (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG).
Retention periods and erasure
We keep enquiries, including any uploaded photographs, for as long as is necessary to handle your request and to complete any business arising from it. They are then erased, unless retention periods under commercial or tax law require otherwise; depending on the document, these are six or ten years. Login credentials for the internal administration area become invalid after twelve hours. The consent-free count (day, page, number of views) contains no link to an individual and is retained permanently in aggregated form. The visit data collected with your consent — random identifier, time, page viewed, referring site, device class and language — is stored as individual records and erased after 180 days at the latest. You can request the erasure of your enquiry at any time; no particular form is required.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 DSGVO). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; the competent authority is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia).
