HEM Manufaktur
Upgrades &
customisation
Good equipment is often capable of more than its stock condition lets on. We take HiFi components purposefully beyond their factory state — technically, sonically and, on request, cosmetically too.
The thinking
Improve rather than replace.
Many components are outstanding in their basic design — and yet leave potential untapped in places: aged parts, the cost pressures of series production, the compromises of their era. That is exactly where we start.
Every upgrade begins with an honest assessment: what will genuinely make a difference on this particular component — and what would merely be an expensive end in itself? We change what makes the component better. No more, no less.
Services
Where an upgrade can make a difference.
- 01Refurbishing your audio equipmentCases, veneer, dials and controls — the visible side of a component, properly restored rather than papered over.
- 02Upgrades / Sonic optimisationTargeted improvement beyond the stock condition — applied where it genuinely makes a difference on this particular component.
- 03Bespoke finishesSurfaces, woods and details to your own taste — a production component that looks as though it had been built for you.
- 04Custom buildsWhen the thing you are looking for does not exist: one-off pieces and adaptations, built for a particular purpose and a particular room.
Areas of work
Signal path & parts
Aged or basic parts make way for higher-grade ones — capacitors in the signal path or the power supply, for instance, wherever condition and circuit design suggest it.
Connections & terminals
Internal wiring, contacts and connection terminals — inconspicuous places where care can become audible.
Mechanics & composure
Damping, decoupling and mechanical quieting: measures against resonance, tailored to the individual component.
Finish & customisation
From refurbished casework to individual requests for finishes and details — so the component reflects your standards on the outside as well.
Good to know
Servicing or upgrade?
- Servicing
- ensures a technically sound condition: testing, repair, electrical safety — the foundation of every good component.
- An upgrade
- goes further: targeted improvement beyond the factory standard. The two often go hand in hand — the solid foundation first, then the refinement.
The process
How an upgrade takes shape.
Listen & assess
We discuss your component, your system and your goal — and tell you honestly what makes sense and what does not.
Proposal & approval
You receive a clear proposal covering scope and cost. Work begins only once you have given your approval.
Execution & testing
Carried out in our workshop, then tested for function and electrical safety.
