BR 530-2.0

Introduced in 1979, the BR-530 ranks among the rarer loudspeakers to come out of the Revox/Studer stable. The pair offered here, bearing consecutive serial numbers, has been fully overhauled and technically brought up to date in our HEM-Audio workshop — as the BR-530-2.0, a one-of-a-kind pair for music lovers and collectors.

The 315 mm Studer bass driver has been completely rebuilt: rewound, fitted with new surrounds, given a special carbon-fibre coating and reinstalled on a black-lacquered chassis. Inside, renewed acoustic foam damping, an upgraded crossover, high-grade internal wiring and solid binding posts that accept all common speaker cables do their work. The consistently clean signal path is clearly audible.

Visually, too, the pair goes its own way: front and rear panels wear a brushed titanium-metal finish, while the sides are wrapped in a hard-wearing satin grey foil — a timeless appearance that sits as comfortably next to Revox's 100 and 200 series as it does in a modern living room. Sonically, the speakers deliver a finely dynamic, precise picture without gaps in the frequency range, with a wide stage, a dry bass reaching down to around 25 Hz and a warm balance that keeps long listening evenings fatigue-free.

The technical data: 620 × 386 × 350 mm (H × W × D), around 20 kg apiece; 315 mm woofer, 50 mm midrange dome, 19 mm tweeter; frequency response 24 Hz to 35 kHz, sensitivity 90 dB (1 W/m), impedance 4 ohms. The pair is supplied without stands or accessories and comes with a 24-month warranty.
