At the heart of the Micro Evolution One sits the CST coaxial driver, which places a beryllium tweeter and a magnesium midrange on a common axis — a design through which TAD Technical Audio Devices Laboratories carries its studio DNA into a compact enclosure. A 16 cm MACC woofer completes the system, delivering fast, tightly controlled bass. The ME-1S is built in Japan to a standard of utmost precision, neutrality and musicality.
The cabinet is equally remarkable: instead of a conventional bass-reflex port, TAD uses the Bi-Directional ADS-Port with flow-optimised openings routed along the sides. The result is deep, clean bass combined with generous placement flexibility, even in demanding rooms of up to around 50 square metres. The steel side panels form part of the low-resonance construction.
This pair wears the extra-cost Titanium high-gloss finish and is in like-new condition, both technically and cosmetically. The original TAD stands — also an extra-cost option — the matching spike set and two original boxes are included. In 2020 this combination retailed for around 20,400 euros; TAD products are known to hold their value exceptionally well.
Partnered with high-quality amplification, the ME-1S shows what all this effort is for: a wide, deeply layered soundstage, precise imaging, natural voices, silky treble and dry, fast bass. Key data: three-way bass-reflex design, frequency response approx. 36 Hz to 60 kHz, 4 ohms, sensitivity around 85 dB, power handling approx. 150 watts, roughly 25 kg per speaker.
